It’s time to believe. It’s about time the curse was reversed. I considered, as an alternate title: Choke On It, because it’s time for Yankee fans to feel the collective humiliation of underdogs everywhere. You could say the Red Sox are the first team in baseball history to comeback from an 0-3 deficit to win a series, but it’s much more fun to say that the Yankees are the first team in history to blow a 3-0 series lead. I believe the Red Sox will win the world series. My friend, Eli, says the Curse of the Bambino will not be broken until the Red Sox win it. I believe the Curse is already broken. Remember that kid that lived in Ruth’s house that caught a line foul with his teeth? Remember how the Boston Globe reported that this incident broke the curse? I believe the Globe was right about that. Remember Aaron Boone’s home run in the bottom of the 11th in game seven of the ’03 ALCS? I believe that was the Bambino’s last blast. Remember Johnny Damon, the guy who single-handedly lifted the Sox to glory in this year’s ALCS game seven with 2 homers and 6 RBI? Remember what number he wears? He wears the number 18, or should I say ’18, the last year the Sox won it all. I believe it is the Yankees who are now cursed. I call it the curse of 9/11. I believe the Yankees wont win a World Series for a long long time. They should have beat the Marlins in ’03. They should have beat the Angles in ’02. They most certainly should have beat the Diamondbacks in ’01, the year they were cursed. In that Series, the Yankees had a two run lead in the bottom of the ninth with Mariano Rivera, the most effective pitcher in post season history, on the mound. And he blew the save. As for that legendary October magic that’s blessed New York for the past 90 years? I believe Steinbrenner spent it to death. This is Boston’s year. Believe it. And start spreading the news…
