Perhaps you have heard of that new miniseries, The Triange? You know the one, about the Bermuda triangle and how it threatens to engulf the entire Earth, or some such premise.
Well, as those of you of the drone alone constituency of NYC might well be a aware, the brains at the Sci-Fi have devised a campaign of advertising and treachery of the sort pioneered by the One Hit Wonders who made that Blare Witch movie(1). Giant posters plastered around town advertise a sock lost to limbo, wherever those missing pieces of footwear go (hint: it might be the Bermuda Triangle). The fliers include a link to nothingstayslostforever.com, a promotional website (with sweepstakes(!)). The promoters even went so far as to clandestinely place actual "lost socks" (printed with the link) at laundromats around the city.
At the website is a Where in the World Is Carmen San Diego type video game. The object of the game is to locate a plane gone missing somewhere over the Dreaded Triangle. This objective takes about five minutes to complete. Find the coordinates of the plane and get an opportunity to sign up to Sci-Fi's mailing list. And then get a chance to receive an opportunity to possibly win an xbox 360 and a bunch of other junk.
Anyways, I forgot what the point I was trying to make here except that this miniseries is sure to be DOA, killed by its own hype.
Or something.
