Today's Listening: This American Life episodes 21 and 61, and also Arpeggiator

Episode 21: Factions
Act I - Religious faction.
Scott Carrier investigates a radical Mormon fundamentalist church.  Boring.

Act II - Beau O'Reilly reads a story about environmental activists in 1907s Illinois.  Boring.

Act III - Ira Glass interviews Glen Lowery about race and friendship.  Pretty interesting, wish it was longer.

Episode 60: Business of Death
Act I - The undertaking
A story of an undertaker from a family of undertakers who must embalm his own father.  Well crafted how it interweaves the details of undertaking with the details of family.  Recommended.

Act II - The Forbidden Zone
Mike Lesy talks about interviewing people who deal with death on a daily basis - homicide detectives, slaughter house workers, et cetera - to try to figure out what insights they have into the meaning of death.   Interesting.

Act III - Fireman
An actor reads from a book about firemen.  Interesting.

Act IV - David Sedaris reads something that has to do with cadavers and turds.

Act V - The happiest Death Worker
I don't really remember this story.

Arpeggiator
Megan Selig of Line Out points to this math rock band.  They have an EP that you can download for free.  It's face-melting sort of stuff, superfast.  The EP is only 10 minutes long, but that's all right because that's about all I can stand to listen to in one sitting.  The price is right, plus check out the sweet cover art.

Below is a video of these two, proving it is, in fact, just a guitarist and drummer.
